I began doing taxes in 1951 and at one point was a California Registered Agent. I have tried all the tax programs and I find TaxAct to be the best. The program is very easy to use and it just walks you through your taxes. It's impossible to keep up on the year to year tax changes but TaxAct solves that problem. Don't think that by taking your taxes to a CPA they will be error free, I have seen CPA's make big big errors. No one is as interested in your financial health as you are so doing your own taxes just might save you big money.Not very intuitive By J
Having used Turbo Tax for several years, I thought I'd try the cheaper tax software this year.
You get what you pay for. The interface is not intuitive. I entered data, and when it got to a review point I noticed an item showed $1 where it should have been $73. Filling in stock information was an exercise in futility. After filling in a spread sheet of info I find it wants a one word description. I would not recommend this software unless your taxes are extremely simple and you just want a cheap way to file them. And if they are that simple maybe the IRS short form would be your best choice, or use the Free File on the IRS.gov site. The Best-Selling TaxACT 2009 Deluxe for Desktop then to sell out very fast, if this is a must have product, be sure to order now to avoid disappointment.
