I have been using Turbo Tax for 20 years. As usual, it transfers over my data from prior years. I have completed my stock transactions for the year and loaded them into the 2012 version. My second career was as a tax professional for major corporations and national accounting firms. Turbo Tax compares very favorably with the professional software we used. But it is very easy to use and any semi-literate computer user should have not problems using it.
I always get the Basic version. It is the same software as the other versions. And I do not need the fluff that goes with them for two or three times the price.The Basic model does everything I ask of it. By Retired CPA
The TurboTax Basic model seems to do everything the more expensive versions do, at a fraction of their cost. The program makes a number of attempts to get the user to upgrade to more expensive versions of TurboTax programs and it is entirely possible that an upgrade would be time-saving. As long time TurboTax users, we strayed from the fold once for a couple of hours, deciding to use another project... but came back and bought TurboTax again the same day. It is, quite simply, the best tool on the market for its intended purpose, in our humble (but experienced) opinion. I am 12 college hours from an accounting degree and did my income taxes manually for many years... after I first tried TurboTax, the thought of doing it manually was out of the question. Of course, I wish the price was lower, but you pay for quality, user friendliness of the software, and peace of mind. You can pay, but don't always get those qualities... TurboTax delivers the goods!
